A new posthumous Aaliyah track titled “Poison,” featuring The Weeknd, was recently released.
“Poison” is a track from Aaliyah’s upcoming posthumous album, Unstoppable. Blackground Records 2.0/EMPIRE will release the album in 2022.
“At night, I lay awake in tears and pain. Searching my heart for what went wrong/Asking myself ‘What’s going on?’/Why cannot we seem to see things eye to eye?”, Aaliyah sings in the R&B ballad, co-written by Aaliyah’s long-time collaborator Static Major and The Weeknd.
Barry Hankerson, founder of Blackground Records, said, “I’m so excited to share this new song by Aaliyah and the very talented The Weeknd. I wanted her adoring fans to get a special gift before the holidays and felt it was the perfect time to release a never-before-heard offering.”
“Poison” marks the first Aaliyah track since 2012.
