During his rematch with fellow Verzuz co-creator Timbaland on Sunday, Swizz Beatz called out Justin Timberlake and urged the superstar to make an appearance on the popular rap battle series.
“Until you can get Justin Timberlake on Verzuz, I don’t really wanna hear those vocals,” Swizz said with a laugh after Timbaland played Jay-Z‘s 2013 track “Holy Grail,” which features Timberlake.
Swizz went even harder at Timberlake when Timbaland played the JT hits “Cry Me a River” and “SexyBack” during the bonus round.
“He gotta admit that he love the Black culture and he gotta be on this stage,” the super-producer said before telling Timberlake directly, “You took from the Black culture, you give to the Black culture! Come to Verzuz and be a part of the Black culture!”
However, Swizz later clarified during an Instagram Live recap of his rematch with Timbaland that he was just “having fun.”
“I ain’t got no problem with JT. I don’t got no problem with nobody. We just having fun. It’s called Verzuz. We’re doing our thing,” Swizz said. “Shoutout to JT. We can’t wait to get you on stage having fun, because you deserve it, too.”
