Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as it adds a 13th total week in the top spot on the all-genre chart.
The holiday song rules the chart for a record-extending fifth holiday season. It was originally released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in November 1994 and hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and the top five for the first time in the 2018 holiday season.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” ruled the chart for three weeks in 2019, two in 2020, three in 2021 and four weeks in 2022.
“When I wrote [it], I had absolutely no idea the impact the song would eventually have worldwide,” Carey previously said of the song. “I’m so full of gratitude that so many people enjoy it with me every year.”
“All I Want For Christmas” dethroned Brenda Lee‘s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which spent the last two weeks at No. 1, having led for the first time 65 years after its release.
