Lil Durk was arrested near the Miami International Airport on Thursday (October 24), on accusations that he was involved in a murder-for-hire plot to kill a rap rival. In addition to Durk’s arrest, five members of the hip-hop crew Only the Family were also taken into custody in California on the same charges. They are all being held in connection to the murder of the cousin of rapper Quando Rondo back in 2022, with Durk and his crew apparently targeting him in retaliation for the murder of Big Von, a rapper who was signed to Durk’s label and was killed in 2020 by Lul Timm, a friend of Quando. The 32-year-old Durk is the leader of the Chicago drill music scene, and won a Grammy for his 2023 Billboard No. 2 single, “All My Life,” which featured J. Cole. His past five solo albums all debuted in the Top Five on the Billboard 200. Durk is currently being held without bail in the Broward County Jail. (Variety)
