Kanye West Reacts To Backlash Over Controversial ‘Eazy’ Video’

Kanye West has reacted to the public backlash he received over the claymation music video for “Eazy,” in which the rapper buries a claymation version of his ex-wife’s new boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

“Art is therapy just like this view,” Ye wrote on Instagram alongside an image of a house on fire. “Art is protected as freedom of speech. art inspires and simplifies the world. Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm. Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended.”

Last week, Ye shared a nearly 4-minute claymation music video of “Eazy” in which he is shown as kidnapping and burying a claymation version of the “Saturday Night Live” star.

In the end, Ye picks the roses growing from Davidson’s skull and transports the bouquets in the back of a pickup truck.

“Everyone lived happily ever after,” reads the closing remarks, with the word “happy” circled, while continuing, “Except Skete. You know who. Jk he’s fine.”

The video received negative responses and garnered criticism on social media, with users calling the video “disturbing” and “terrifying.”

Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. They share four children together: 8-year-old daughter North, 6-year-old son Saint, 4-year-old daughter Chicago, and 2-year-old son Psalm. She is now dating Davidson.

West shared the video after the news that a judge restored Kardashian’s single status during a divorce hearing on Wednesday, March 2.
