Glass Animals‘ hit song “Heat Waves” has finally entered the top 5 of Billboard‘s all-genre Hot 100 chart.
The song earned the band their first top 5 as well as created a record for the longest ascent to the tier.
“Heat Waves” rose to 3rd spot from last week’s No. 7 on the Hot 100, completing a record 51-week climb to the top 5.
The song earned 66.5 million in airplay audience, up 3%, 14.1 million streams, up 12%, and sold 4,000, down 8%, in the tracking week, according to MRC Data.
The track concurrently rules the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 16th week each.
The single, which debuted at No. 100 on the January 16, 2021, tally, has bested the previous record of a 45-week trek held by Gabby Barrett‘s “I Hope,” featuring Charlie Puth, in 2020.
Previously, the song had also set the record for the longest trip to the top 10 of Hot 100 chart. The song had reached the top 10 in its 42nd week on the chart.
“Heat Waves” is a track from the band’s 2020 album Dreamland. Meanwhile, the band has also earned their first Grammy Awards nomination this year for Best New Artist.
