After moving to a virtual format in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture will return to a fully live gathering next year.
The ESSENCE Festival will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from June 30 to July 3, 2022.
Three nights of music concerts will take place at the Caesars Superdome, while empowerment programming (networking, finance, career, wellness, fashion, beauty and more) will be staged at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The ESSENCE Festival of Culture is celebrating the culture and resilience of the Black community with the theme, “It’s the Black Joy for Me!”
“The reimagining of the 2022 ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans as a phygital – fully physical and fully digital – experience will be epic,” said Caroline Wanga, CEO of Essence Communications, Inc.
Additional details regarding the 2022 ESSENCE Festival, including ticketing, schedules, talent line-up, and Covid protocols, will be released in January, the organizers said.
Beyoncé, Prince, Janet Jackson, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs are some of the past performers at the ESSENCE Fest.
