Demi Lovato recently dropped a new single, “Unforgettable (Tommy’s Song), as a tribute to one of their close friends who died two years ago following a struggle with drug addiction.

“Two years ago I lost someone who meant so much to me. His name was Tommy and he was such a beautiful, special man,” Lovato wrote, posting a clip of the song to Instagram. “I wrote this song the day after I found out that he had lost his battle with addiction.”

Tommy Trussell III died in October 2019.

All net proceeds from the song will go to The Voices Project, a recovery advocacy organization.

The singer also encouraged people struggling with drug addiction to call 1-800-662-HELP, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s treatment help line.
