Halle Bailey and Danielle Brooks are set to be honored at Essence‘s 17th annual Black Women in Hollywood awards.
The star-studded annual event celebrating Black women for their contributions to the film and TV business will take place on Thursday, March 7, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The event will be hosted by actor, Grammy-winning rapper and entrepreneur Cliff “Method Man” Smith.
Others to be honored at the event include acclaimed screenwriter & showrunner of “All American,” “All American: Homecoming” and “Found” Nkechi Okoro Carroll and industry powerhouse and President of Original Programming for STARZ Kathryn Busby.
“The intersection of joy and justice is where community thrives,” said Essence Ventures President and CEO, Caroline Wanga. “We don’t ever need to diminish our collective power and accomplishments; due to the work we are still doing to exist equitably.”
She added, “The past year tested this intersection within one of our most sacred cultural realms, when the entertainment industry faced the gridlock of stakeholder value and WORTH.”
