R&B star John Legend has sold the copyrights and royalty rights to his songs to investment firm KKR & Co. and BMG.
The deal includes songs starting from the early years of the singer back in 2004. The details of the deal, however, were not disclosed.
According to the reports, the deal was closed back in September. The rights will be divided in half between DL Music IP LP, an affiliate of KKR, and BMG Rights Management.
Recently, many of the biggest names in music have taken a similar route.
In December 2020, Bob Dylan sold the rights to his songs to Universal Music Group for $400 million, while in 2021, Bruce Springsteen sold the rights to his songs to Sony Music Entertainment for $550 million
