Lil Nas X has revealed the cover art for his debut album Montero, which is set to drop on September 17, via Columbia Records.
The album cover, which was inspired by “Genesis II” by John Stephens, shows Lil Nas X floating naked in the air surrounded by butterflies, trees, and waterfalls.
“Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work,” Lil Nas X captioned the cover art on social media.
Montero will feature the Billboard 100 single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” as well as “Industry Baby,” featuring Jack Harlow, and “Sun Goes Down.”
“Creating this album has been therapy for me,” Lil Nas had previously said about the album. “I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.”
