Singer-songwriter Demi Lovato has come out as non-binary.
On their brand-new OBB Sound-produced podcast, “4D with Demi Lovato,” the 28-year-old revealed that they now identify as non-binary and that their preferred pronouns are “they/them.”
“Over the past year and a half I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work,” Lovato shared. “And through this work, I’ve had the revelation that I identify as nonbinary.”
The singer added that the pronouns they now go by “best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”
The first episode of the podcast featured guest star, Alok Vaid-Menon, a gender-nonconforming writer/performer and friend, with whom Lovato spoke about the process of coming out as non-binary and how pronouns are not about grammar; “This is about power,” said Vaid-Menon.
