If you’re a dog lover or “cat lady” and live in Northglenn, you’re likely one of many who are likely upset by a new city ordinance putting a limit on how many household pets you can own inside of city limits.
Starting August 1st, you won’t be able to own more than 4 dogs or cats on your property. Four is the total number of combined pets, not four of each.
Why is Northglenn limiting pets in their city?
The city says it’s “in response to concerns raised by residents regarding excessive noise and waste caused by a high number of pets in some neighborhoods.”
The city also points out that they are the only municipality in Adams County without a limit.
If you live in Northglenn and exceed the new pet limit, you’re eligible for a “previously owned pet exception.” As long as you disclose them all to the City by Aug. 1, 2025, HERE, this won’t affect your current fur babies.
After August 1st, breaking this new ordinance can result in pet removal from your property, so get them registered ASAP. See the full notice from the City of Northglenn HERE.
