Choking back sobs, Paula Deen addressed the camera on the Today Show Wednesday morning, pleading "If there's anyone out there that have never said something that they wish they could take back. If you're out there please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at my head that it kills me. Please, I want to meet you. I is what I is, and I'm not changing." She also contradicted herself, and apparently didn't realize it. She said she had only used the N-word that one time. So Matt asked her if she was lying in the deposition when she had admitted there were other times. She said the testimony was accurate. Then she came right back and said she had never used the N-word other than that one time.
Paula Deen lost two big partners yesterday: Wal-Mart and Caesars Entertainment. Wal-Mart says, quote, "We are ending our relationship with Paula Deen Enterprises and we will not place new orders beyond those already committed." Paula has restaurants in four Caesars casinos in Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina and Mississippi. They'll be "re-branded" immediately. The company says that even though she apologized, they decided it was in their best interest to part ways with her. Paula Deen is in full-on crisis mode -- and she's brought out a big gun in the hopes of reviving her ruined reputation following last week's N-word disaster. And, a source tells Us Weekly the celebrity chef, 66, has hired none other than Scandal's Olivia Pope! Well, sort of...
A source said Deen has been "making desperate calls to top crisis PR firms" after Food Network and Smithfield both dropped her in the wake of the scandal, with other partnerships and business ventures on thin ice as well. "She ended up with Judy Smith," the source reveals. Smith, 54, is a Washington, D.C.-based crisis management expert who has worked with the likes of Monica Lewinsky and Michael Vick -- and famously inspired Olivia Pope, the fictional DC "fixer" on ABC's Scandal played by Kerry Washington. Quips the source: "It's good, because only Olivia Pope could help her now!"
Martha Stewart was on "Watch What Happens Live" last night, and she talked about the Paula Deen situation. She said she feels sorry for Paula, because she knows how careful you have to be when you're a public figure.
In case you still needed proof that Oprah Winfrey rules over all of mankind or, at least all of entertainment, then Forbes is happy to help you out. The venerable magazine has released its ranking of the world's 100 most powerful celebs, and—shock of all shocks—the Queen of All Media is tops. The 59-year-old mogul sits comfortably at No. 1 with an estimated $77 in earnings over the past year—a bump up from the previous two years, when she came in at No. 2. Last year's champ, Jennifer Lopez, took quite the tumble, however: She slipped all the way down to No. 12. Coming in second to Oprah is Lady Gaga, followed by Steven Spielberg, Beyoncé and Madonna, who round out the top five.
And while Oprah's $77 million haul is no chump change by any means, she isn't the top-earning celeb on the list. That would be Madge, whose whoppingly successful MDNA tour swelled her coffers by a cushy $125 million. Earnings, however, wasn't the only criteria used to make the cut: According to the mag, the list measure a celeb's "money and fame, which includes estimated earnings over the last 12 months, and how often each celebrity is mentioned in print and on TV." To that end, a trio of singers also made the top 10: Taylor Swift , Jon Bon Jovi and Justin Bieber. Even the sports world got a shout-out—Roger Federer clocked in at No. 8, with $71 million in earnings—while Ellen DeGeneres closed out the top 10.
Mally the monkey, Justin Bieber's former pet, has emerged from quarantine at his new German home three months after the pop star brought him to the country. The 6-month-old capuchin monkey moved into a new enclosure at the Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen, northern Germany. He will soon be introduced to the zoo's other capuchin monkeys. "Mally is a clever little guy and we're confident that he will settle in quickly," says the zoo manager. Mally was transferred to the zoo last month from a Munich animal shelter where he had been since being seized by German customs March 28. Bieber failed to produce the required vaccination and import papers after arriving for a European tour, and Mally's ownership was transferred to the German state May 21.
Fans are eager to see a photo of Kim & Kanye’s baby, North West, but the new parents have decided to debut their baby on the premiere of Kris Jenner’s new talk show, on July 15, a source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian won’t reveal an image of their daughter on the cover of a magazine. Instead, the couple is keeping it all in the family and will likely introduce their daughter, North West, to the world on Kris Jenner‘s new daytime talk show, Kris! Kanye isn’t looking to profit off his daughter or use her to boost ratings on any show, but “he and Kris are family — he likes her a lot and has mad respect for her. He’d be willing to do her show with his baby,” a source close to the 36-year-old Yeezus artist tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They’re family at the end of the day and family comes first.” Kris is currently promoting her new daytime talk show, Kris, which debuts on July 15 on Fox. While everyone seems to be asking about North, Kris is trying her best to keep a lot of stuff secret until the premiere of her show. On June 25, Kris appeared on the Today show and when she was asked about North, she didn’t say anything that would reveal too much. “Right now, everybody is good. The baby is doing is great and happy and healthy and it’s a really joyful time. It’s amazing,” she told the hosts of Today. When Matt Lauer joked and said Kris must have a lot of photos of North on her cell phone, Kris stopped Matt right in his tracks! “I’d have to kill you if I showed you my cell phone,” Kris jokingly said.
The good news for 66-year-old James Woods? He's still got enough stroke to pull a 20-year-old girlfriend. The bad news? She got arrested for FELONY DRUG POSSESSION. Kristen Bauguess got popped in Georgia earlier this month for possession of pot AND a controlled substance... as well as speeding and other vehicular offenses. Woods' last girlfriend, Ashley Madison, was 19 when he first started dating her. They broke up recently, after seven years together.
Carrie Fisher recently revealed that Disney had hired a trainer to get her in shape for the new "Star Wars" movie. Well, it turns out they had some concerns about Mark Hamill's girth as well. The not-always-reliable British tabloids say Disney has hired trainers and nutritionists to get them BOTH down to fighting weight. A source says, quote, "Mark and Carrie need to be as close to their appearance in the earlier movies as possible . . . the budget is huge so there will be no expense spared."
