Even though I'm a chick, I have no problem driving a pick-up truck. In fact, I kind of like it; I'm only 5'4", so I can sit up nice and high actually see everything, plus they tend to do very well in snow and you can throw lots of stuff in the back.
I had the good fortune to cruise around in a Toyota Tundra for a week and that, my friends, is one BIG truck! I had the regular cab (I would prefer an extended or crew cab, if I were to buy this truck) and I have to say, it really had quite a bit of room behind the seats. We managed to take a trip to the mountains with two dogs and all of our gear (backpacks, boots, some groceries, laptop, etc) and we all fit just fine in that front cab. If you fold up the console, you have a little jump seat in the middle, if you have a dog or kid that needs a seat.
The engine is a big V-8 that got me up and down the mountain, without a struggle. Even though it's a big, beefy vehicle, I thought it was really easy to drive. Plus, there are plenty of cupholders and a good CD/radio combo.
If you're looking for a full-sized truck with that Toyota reliability, check out the Tundra.
